April 12, 2002, Newsletter Issue #57: Let`s Go to Limerick!

Tip of the Week

Many famous people had/have Limerick roots including Eamon de Valera (the former President of Ireland and advocate for a Free State), Rose Fitzgerald (the mother of John F. Kennedy), and of course the writer, Frank McCourt, whose memoir ‘Angela’s Ashes’ was set in the city.

Today, Limerick is a vibrant city with excellent shopping, pubs and restaurants, it is an important port and industrial centre and the number of ancient sites surrounding the city is quite simply astounding (the oldest is to be found east of the city at Duntryleague where megalithic remains date back to 3500 BC!). I hope you enjoy visiting Limerick with me.
